Mine Victim Assistance is an ongoing process covering the following areas:

  1. Medical Assistance:  Provide prosthetics to the victims who had lost Limbs.

  2. Psychological Assistance: Offer lectures and sessions that help victims to adjust to their situation in their normal life.

  3. Academic training: Provide training to the victims or their families to support them in order to give more knowledge related to self-help activities.

  4. Workshops and conferences: Organize meetings for the national NGO members to give them the ability to improve their capabilities allowing them to enhance their performance.

  5. Facilitated loans: Provide loans to the victims related to self help activities.

  6. Income generating programs: Support projects that will enhance the social status of the victims.

 

Some MVA projects undertaken to-date include:

  • Mine Victims Survey and review of the Lebanon mine victims’ database

  • Capacity building workshop and intervention with land mine survivors

  • Training session for mine victim assistance actors focusing on strategic and longer term planning

  •  Micro-credit income generating workshop for mine victims

  • Capacity building camp for children

  • Camp for children of landmine survivors of Jezzine.

  • First Arab Camp for landmine survivors.

  • Conference:” LM survivors in Lebanon-Status and solution”.

  • Representation of mine victims in the Landmine Victims of the Arab World Conference, Cairo.

  • Representation of mine victims in the Leadership and Advocacy Training Program, Geneva.

  • Representation of Lebanon in the Nairobi Summit, Nairobi..

  • Participation in the Beirut International Marathons 2003 and 2004
