In general
the public sector through the Ministries of Defense,
Health, and Social Affairs have worked on supporting
victims with health care and rehabilitation including
the provision of prosthetic devices among others.
Council of the South
United
Nations (UN)
agencies have provided assistance through technical
expertise, implementation capabilities, and funding.
United Nations agencies include United Nations
Children’s Fund, World Health Organization,
United Nations
Development Program.
Local and
international non-governmental organizations are
involved in the National
Mine Victim Assistance Committee (NMVAC). Some
organizations have been involved in this sector for more
than ten years offering especially medical and
rehabilitative assistance.
Several
countries, institutions and individuals have provided
funding for MVA.
